Our Story

My grandmother, Mathilde Ibsen Jensen, was a Goodwill Ambassador for Denmark, cooking for Danish dignitaries and sailors arriving in New York during the 1900’s. She was affectionately known as the “Mother of the Danes”. When her son John married my mother Bette, Mathilde shared her beloved Danish recipes with my mother who passed down her recipes and love of cooking to her 4 children–including her Sweet Tarragon Dressing. I loved it and served this dressing to customers at my restaurants.

Now, 60 years later, I want to share this family treasure with you along with two new flavors!

Try one of our delicious dressings with mixed greens, thinly sliced onions, local tomatoes, avocado, mandarin oranges, and dried fruit such as cranberries. We suggest tossing Bette’s dressing as opposed to pouring it on your salad.

Subtle, sweet flavor.

I was recently given a bottle of Betty’s Gourmet Tarragon salad dressing to try. I tried it, and it was delicious. It had a sweet flavor to it, but you could also use it for a marinade. I wasn’t sure if I would like the tarragon taste in it, but it really flavored it.

Zesty!

We have been using this dressing on a Romaine lettuce, tomato, and sweet pepper salad. It provided the little zest to what is normally a rather bland tasting salad that we have frequently. My wife used the dressing to make a creamy tarragon chicken – again, giving the chicken a unique and pleasing very mild herb taste of sweetness. If you like just a little, but not overly overt sweetness to your salad dressing, this is a very good choice.
